Ninth Grader Headed to National Math Competition

Two Colorado teams are set to compete at the 33rd annual national mathematics competition in Las Vegas on May 30-June 1. The 15-member Division A team will include Thomas Scheevel, a ninth grader at Fruita Monument High School.
The teams will travel to the western regional site at the University of Nevada to participate in the annual American Regions Math League competition that brings together the top math students in the nation.
The Colorado Math Circle program, hosted by the University of Colorado at Boulder, provides a monthly forum for high school and exceptional middle school students to meet for mathematical discussions and exercises. The program also serves as a training ground to prepare Colorado teams for national competition.
Colorado Math Circle is supported by the CU-Boulder Outreach Committee and the Department of Applied Mathematics. Contact Silva Chang at 303-494-1097 or mathcircle@coloradomath.org
